About Coleman Consulting Group
Wilma N. Torres, CPC
Wilma Torres, of the Coleman Consulting Group, is a veteran of the healthcare industry with over 30 years’ experience in medical coding, billing and reimbursement optimization.
Her main areas of focus encompass most of the company’s services for risk adjusted reimbursement (MRA): medical documentation audits, medical coding, coding oversight and compliance, and billing.
Prior to this, Wilma worked closely for 10 years with world-renowned cardiologist Bernard Lown, M.D. of Harvard University. As his business manager, she was responsible for enhancing financial performance, insurance coding for billing and payor compliance, and physician education to maximize reimbursement. Wilma also coordinated two successful billing system conversions without any disruption in the practice’s cash flow. Before working with Dr. Lown, Wilma successfully managed the billing and reimbursement for one of the largest hospitals affiliated with Harvard University.
Wilma is a Certified Professional Coder and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. She has served as a Board member of many local organizations, including Women in Healthcare and the Women’s Healthcare Executive Network.
The 2007 and 2010 President of a local chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), Wilma has proctored examinations for AAPC credentialing and coordinated three-day-long Coding Fests to assist local professionals in maintaining and advancing their coding credentials.
Wilma was recognized as a 2005 Women of Distinction Nominee by Soroptomist International for outstanding work in her field, in the community, and beyond the call of duty.
