M. Alexandra Johnson, FACHE, CRC
Alex Johnson provides consultation in the areas of managed care, compliance, physician practice management and operations. One of her specialties is reorganization assistance to providers (with full-risk and partial-risk managed care agreements), who are in danger of losing their HMO contracts because of poor performance.
Having spent seven years with one of South Florida’s largest managed care organizations, Alex was also responsible for overseeing its 12 large primary care offices under a risk arrangement, with combined revenue of over $26 million and serving over 20,000 customers. She subsequently served as Administrator of a large medical group with 32 primary care centers until launching a consulting practice in 2000.
Alex holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration. She is board certified in healthcare management, is an adjunct professor in the Department of Health Services Administration at Florida Atlantic University and served in an adjunct capacity at Florida International University from 2006 until 2011.
Additionally, Alex is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and served as Chairperson of its Chapters Committee from 2009 to 2010. In 2005, at the request of ACHE’s local Regent, Alex developed and facilitated a 10-week Study Group on behalf of the South Florida Healthcare Executive Forum (SFHEF) to assist local healthcare executives in obtaining board-certification in healthcare management; the Study Group was repeated almost every year from 2005 until 2015. Finally, Alex was recognized with the SFHEF’s Excellence Award in 2004, served as the organization’s President in 2006 and 2011, and as ACHE Regent for Florida – Eastern in 2013 and 2014. In recognition of significant contributions toward the achievement of the goals of the ACHE and the advancement of healthcare management excellence, Alex was recognized in 2007 with the ACHE Regent’s Award and an ACHE Service Award in 2009.
Alex is also a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and holds the certification of Certified Risk Adjustment Coder.
